Belfast indie pop-rock duo Blue Americans, relatively undiscovered, saw their first taste of success when actress Chloë Grace Moretz shared one of their songs on her Instagram stories. From there, the band has been taking things in stride. Named after blue American Spirit cigarettes (“the strong ones”, they denote). The bands debut EP and subsequent singles play into a addicting pattern of punchy hooks, delicate-yet-spirited vocals, and electro-singed catchy brand of riffs. With verses soaked in wisdom of growing up and getting out/dreaming big (“We said "no" as a Gen Y / Think I can still move to to NY? / I'll see Pollock at the Tate Modern / Gotta save for a little while”) the band caught our attention with their song “Big in Japan”, which you can hear below. Fingers crossed for much more in 2020 from the duo.
